Airbrush gallery
Below you can see a number of paintings that Michael created with the most common used airbrush technique. At the step by step you can follow how such works have been established. The first principle is that a design is drawn with light pencil lines on a surface, in the next step the airbrush is used to paint the base at first only using shades of gray, this is done freehand, without the use of masks. When all the shades of gray have been applied, the mixed colors are being painted. This is a relatively rapid technique of airbrushing, but is extremely difficult for a photo-realistic image, because the exact colors of the model prove to be difficult to control, the more paint is sprayed on the surface, the darker it becomes. Recovery from errors is virtually impossible, unless an entire surface is covered with white paint first, but that will be an endless job, repairs will still be visible. So a it’s a nice technique when there is not a high demanding of photorealism. Tough this technique does give a specific identifiable character to the airbrush technique. This is actually one of the many different techniques used in airbrush art. Look at my other paintings where I used a whole different technique, with photo realistic end results.
